The Company
A well-known, major financial services provider is looking for a SAS based direct marketing analyst to join their analytics team in their East Midlands-based office. With millions of customers, the analytics team look at everything from customer behaviour towards particular financial products, customer contact strategies and new propositions, product pricing strategies and specific branch requirements, based on product & customer trends. You will have the opportunity to use data analysis to drive strategy, business decisions and really drive development and growth.
The Role
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use a range of analytical tools including SAS and SQL, along with campaign management tools such as Unica Affinium, Epiphany, Chordiant etc, to create segmentations in order to ensure accurate customer targeting for a range of financial products across a range of direct marketing channels. You will be involved from the initial stages of data processing and management, as well as selecting and extracting the correct customer data to run campaigns, and also ensuring the content of these high profile campaigns is correct and in-line with the brief.
You will also have the opportunity to carry out SAS/SQL-based analysis on a wide range of customer driven data in order to understand customer response to campaigns and make suggestions and recommendations based on your findings that will improve the success of future campaigns. Marketing data acquired from group brands and channels will be analysed using SAS/SQL/SPSS, applying analytical techniques including profiling, segmentation, customer targeting etc. The role is consumer focussed, and SAS/SQL based-analysis will be used to provide real insight into customer behaviour and trends, understanding which consumers need to be targeted and the best ways of doing this. You will have the opportunity to use your insights to really drive business development, taking a strategic approach to data analysis and making recommendations that will improve customer relations.
The role involves liaising with key stakeholders, as well as members of the marketing and analytics teams based overseas. Therefore excellent communication skills are essential.
The Person
The ideal candidate must have the following experience:
" A mathematically relevant degree (2.1 or above) or equivalent, in a subject such as maths, statistics, economics, physics etc
" An outstandinding academic history, excelling in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics and other numerate subjects
" Experience using SAS, SQL and/or SPSS in a commercial environment; Retail Banking / Financial services is ideal, however candidates with some commercial experience in an analytical role in sectors such as retail, telecoms etc will also be considered
This is a great opportunity for a SAS/SQL/SPSS based analyst to gain experience in an expanding data analytics team within a retail banking environment.
